Jakarta Inspects Two RDF Plant Construction Sites

The Jakarta Provincial Government inspected the construction site for waste processing using the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant method in the Rorotan Public Cemetery (TPU) area, North Jakarta and the 3R Pesanggrahan Waste Disposal Site (TPS), South Jakarta.
We can start construction next year
Jakarta Regional Cooperation Bureau (KSD) Head, Marulina Dewi said the inspection was carried out to ensure preparations for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT PLN regarding processing waste into Solid Jumputan Fuel (BBJP) as Co-Firing for Steam Power Plants (PLTU).
"The MoU will be signed next week. At the same time, we want to ensure the area of the RDF development site to be built," he expressed, Friday (4/28).
Commission D Appreciates Development of Landfill Mining Facility and RDFAccording to him, the RDF construction was to reduce the waste load at the Bantargebang TPST, Bekasi, West Java. It was because Jakarta should have more than one waste management location. Currently, there are three approved RDF construction sites which are spread across Rorotan TPU, 3R TPS at Pesanggrahan and Pegadungan TPU.
"These lands belong to Jakarta, so the construction of the RDF Plant will be easy to implement," he explained.
Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto explained the second phase of the RDF construction would be built next year on land owned by the Jakarta Government. As planned, the construction will use the Ciry Budget (APBD) and other funds.
"Hopefully, the budget formulation that we have planned can be completed this year. Thus, we can start construction next year," he hoped.
He explained the RDF Plant construction at Rorotan and Pegadungan TPUs was a large scale. Later on, the waste management could accommodate 2,000 tons of waste per day.
Meanwhile, the RDF construction at 3R TPS is a small scale that can manage 30-50 tons of waste per day.
"Its construction will be utilized as much as possible. Even now, we are already working with two PT Cement and PT PLN," he stated.
